HHKB Keymap Tools

The tool is displayed in Japanese, English, and Chinese (Simplified).
English is set for this tool when the tool is used in an environment that is in an unsupported language.


HHKB Studio Keymap Tool (For Studio)

*Also used for firmware updates.

HHKB Studio Keymap Tool allows for keymap customization, keyboard shortcut assignment, and the ability to change the behavior of the Gesture Pad on the Studio model.
By running this tool, you can also update firmware on Studio model.

How to Use

  1. Download and install "HHKB Studio Keymap Tool".
  2. Connect your keyboard with USB cable, and run the "HHKB Studio Keymap Tool". This tool will not run via Bluetooth connection.

HHKB Professional Keymap Tool (For HYBRID Type-S / HYBRID / Classic Type-S / Classic)

HHKB Professional Keymap Tool allows keymap customization on HYBRID Type-S and HYBRID models. By running this tool, you can also update firmware on HYBRID Type-S, HYBRID, and Classic models.
*The keymap customization function is not available for Classic models.

How to Use

  1. Download and install "HHKB Professional Keymap Tool".
  2. Connect your keyboard with USB cable, and run the "HHKB Professional Keymap Tool". This tool will not run via Bluetooth connection.

Firmware

Latest firmware for Studio, HYBRID Type-S, HYBRID, and Classic models can be found below.
Since there are three types of firmware, please download firmware according to your keyboard.

Following tool is required when updating the firmware.

How to Update

  1. Download the latest firmware as shown below.
  2. Connect your keyboard with USB cable, and run the "HHKB Studio Keymap Tool" or "HHKB Professional Keymap Tool".
  3. Click "Updating the firmware".
  4. Click "Read the firmware", and select the firmware file downloaded at step#1.
  5. Click "Write to HHKB".
    *It takes about five minutes to update the firmware. Please do not allow your Mac to go into sleep mode during update.

  • Fixed an issue where the keyboard did not resume from power saving mode when a key was pressed.
    Note: The keyboard enters power saving mode when DIP switch SW6 is set to Up(ON) and the Bluetooth connection has been disconnected for one minute.
  • Fixed an issue where the keyboard could not reconnect after the PC entered sleep mode using the [Fn] + [Esc] keys and then resumed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Mac did not enter sleep mode when the [Command] + [Opt] + [Eject(Fn+F)] keys were pressed.
  • Fixed an issue where the pointing stick was unintentionally enabled when any of the pointing stick setting keys (PstckON/PstckOFF/PstckTgl) was pressed while the DIP switch SW3 were set to Up(ON).
  • Fixed the following issues related to the gesture pads operation.
    • When the [OptAlt R] key and the gesture pads were operated simultaneously, releasing your finger from the gesture pads first caused the [Ctrl R] key to remain in a pressed state.
    • When the [Win R] key and the gesture pads were operated simultaneously, releasing your finger from the gesture pads first caused the [Win] key to remain in a pressed state.
